Transfer Students:

For many students, transfering is the best route for many reasons. Whether it is a financial issue, not admitted into their first choice, or it simply the most convenient, the educational instruction at a community college versus a 4 year university is roughly the same. A standard college education includes doing mostly general education courses the first two years. For this reason, many community colleges, especially in California, have Transfer Admissions Agreements. Essentially, this is a contract between the student at the community college and the prospective four year college. It is often easier to gain admission to a college as a transfer than as a freshman. For example, many students find it difficult to get into UC Berkeley as a Freshman but are able to get in as a transfer student later.
